AutonoMe is a social enterprise embedding technology into Learning Disability Health, Social Care and SEND pathways.
William Britton, from AutonoMe, explains why the company supports the West of England Good Employment Charter.
We have a flexible working policy, where possible, which includes and is not restricted to location of work/ home working, hours of work and working pattern. This helps to provide flexibility across the workforce so staff are able to manage their work life balance in a way that suits them.
We set up the company with a flexible working outlook from day one. To do so our business plan focussed on output instead of time and task which is also reflected in the way we manage staff and contracts accordingly. To help with flexible working we ensure staff are provided with the equipment and support to do so such as laptops, cloud drives and so on.
Feedback from staff is they really enjoy the flexibility of managing their time and work loads around their lives and routines which is positive for morale and helps keep high staff retention.
It will really help businesses across the region understand the different ways in which policies can be implemented, sharing good practice and learning from others.
The Good Employment Charter is an accreditation scheme that aims to improve employment standards in the West of England for organisations of all sizes and sectors, through characteristics that will raise the value and quality of work, allowing employers to become an ‘employer of choice’, leading them to higher staff retention rates, better productivity and contributing to a thriving economy.
The West of England Good Employment Charter will set the standard for working practices in the region. Supporting businesses of any size or sector to improve investment in their staff, enabling more inclusive, equitable & sustainable working practices, positively benefiting people, society, and the wider economy.
