Flourish Foodhall & Kitchen is a hospitality and retail company.
Paul Castle, of Flourish Foodhall & Kitchen, explains why the company supports the West of England Good Employment Charter.
As a Bcorp we believe that good business starts with putting people and planet before profits. Having a package of staff welfare and benefits attracts better people and they stay longer and ultimately help the business to generate profits, which in turn go back into looking after our people.
Our team are working to a very high standard, our labour turnover is very low, morale is high and therefore we have happy customers.
It does cost time and money to set up these working principles, it’s not a quick fix, you must hold your nerve.
The West of England will attract great people who in turn support the local economy, raise standards, attract more investment and more people will want to visit, live and work here. It’s a virtuous circle.
The Good Employment Charter is an accreditation scheme that aims to improve employment standards in the West of England for organisations of all sizes and sectors, through characteristics that will raise the value and quality of work, allowing employers to become an ‘employer of choice’, leading them to higher staff retention rates, better productivity and contributing to a thriving economy.
The West of England Good Employment Charter will set the standard for working practices in the region. Supporting businesses of any size or sector to improve investment in their staff, enabling more inclusive, equitable & sustainable working practices, positively benefiting people, society, and the wider economy.
