Hargreaves Lansdown’s commitment to building an inclusive and diverse workforce

We are guided by our values and are committed to building an inclusive and diverse workforce, not simply because it is the right thing to do, but because we believe it will lead to better outcomes for clients, colleagues and our community.

Our people are our biggest asset and are fundamental to delivering our vision, our strategy and the sustainable growth of our business. We believe this starts with having an engaged and diverse workforce.

Our Inclusion and Diversity (I&D) strategy focuses on 4 pillars, each pillar is supported by a detailed action plan to ensure we attract, engage and develop, and retain diverse talent and build upon the progress we have made.

Key to attracting and retaining the best people is our approach to reward. We believe in clear, fair and transparent pay and reward and we are proud to say that we are Living Wage Foundation Accredited. We offer flexible and hybrid/blended working (time split between the office and home) for the vast majority of colleagues, and part-time working where roles allow.

We offer comprehensive well-being support for colleagues including mental health assistance, and have trained mental health first aiders and wellbeing champions across the company. Additionally, one of our partner charities for 2022 is Bristol Mind which demonstrates how important this topic is for colleagues.

We believe it is important to listen to and understand our colleagues’ views and motivation; their honest feedback is crucial in evolving our colleague engagement programme. We are always listening, and alongside various feedback loops and methods we have the HL Colleague Forum to make sure that the ‘voice of the workforce’ is considered in the decision-making process of the Board.

It's important to ensure colleagues are engaged throughout the process and that once standards are in place, momentum is maintained. Sharing best practice is one easy way the support network can help businesses understand how to keep matters front of mind.

Our aim is to offer the best in client and colleague experience while contributing positively to our community and to a more sustainable and resilient society. The standards alongside our values, culture and purpose are the framework from which we can deliver all of this and more.

It will demonstrate that this is an important topic to the West of England and will drive more inclusive workplaces that will in turn drive up the standards whilst enabling companies to learn from each other, pay etc.

Quite simply, it's the right thing to do. It shows your colleagues, clients, and wider stakeholders that you care. We believe this is an important step towards more inclusive, equitable & sustainable working practices, which will positively benefit people, society and the wider economy.
